Dr. Jidong Zhang , a Chief phisician, professor, academic advisor for medical doctoral students, distinguished academic leader of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, the first group of famous expert doctors of the hospital , Dr.Zhang has earned the titles of Shandong Province Famous Veteran Chinese Medicine Experts, and National Outstanding Expert of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM). He has been among the  academic inheritance teachers in three national TCM inheritance programs. He held the position as the director of TCM Department as well as the director of TCM Research Institute of  Medical School of Shandong University.
 
Dr.Zhang served as a standing committee member in Heart Disease Branch of Chinese Medicine Association, a standing committee member in expert committee on cardiovascular diseases  in the Physician Branch of integrated Chinese and Western Medicine subordinated to Chinese Medical Association, a professional committee member in National Association of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine on deficiency syndrome and geriatrics,a professional committee chairman in Association of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine on heart disease,  a professional committee vice chairman in Physician Branch of integrated Chinese and Western Medicine subordinated to Shandong Province Medical Association, and a standing director for Science and Technology Association on Healthcare. As one member in National Science and Technology Award Evaluation Expert Database , he was invited to work as a professional evaluation expert  for Ministry of  Education, Ministry of Science and Technology, Natural Science Foundation of China,as well as other provincial level evaluations within Shandong Province.                   

Dr.Zhang was awarded over ten times for scientific research, including 2 awards as the first author for Second Prize and 3 awards for Third Prize for scientific and technological progress given by  Shandong Provincial Department of Science an Technology, 4 awards for Second Prize for science and technology Progress given by Shandong Provincial Department of Public Education . He has authored 17 professional books in which 4 books as the editor in chief and 3 as the deputy editor in chief . He has had  more than 100 papers published in domestic and foreign journals with 17 of them in SCI collection. Furthermore, for 5 times he was in the list of editors to serve for the national planning texbooks for colleges and universities all over the country. He presided over the scientific research projects supported by Natural  Science Foundation of China as well as those by Provincial Science Foundation,Provincial Department of Science and Technology,Provincial Bureau of Traditional Chinese Medicine,and others.
