Dr. Lei Sun graduated from the Department of Endocrinology, Shandong University, Jinan, China. She has worked in Department of Endocrinology, Qilu Hospital of Shandong University since 2003. From 2007-2019 as a visiting scholar, she went to Westmead Hospital, University of Sydney, Sydney, Australia. Her researches mainly focus on the relationship of immune system with the endocrine and metabolic diseases.
She is the youth member of Diabetes Branch of Chinese Medical Association, a member of type 1 diabetes group, Diabetes Branch in Chinese Medical Association, a member of Diabetes Branch in Shandong Medical Association, a vice chairman of Osteoporosis and Bone Mineralogy Branch of Shandong Medical Doctors' Association. She specializes in a wide range of the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes and complications, thyroid, adrenal gland, bone metabolism and other endocrine diseases. Dr. Sun participated in the clinical and basic research of stem cell therapy for diabetes, and conducted in-depth research on the relationship between endocrine diseases and immunity in future strategies.
As projects leader, Dr. Sun has presided over 7 national and provincial projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China. As the first or corresponding author, She has over 10 SCI papers published in Endocrine, Immunology and Cell Biology, Mediators Inflamm, Transplant Immunology and other journals. Dr Sun participated in and had oral presentation on the international conference twice and won youth investigator Award. She also edited two books and participated in the translation of one book. As a mater supervisor, she has trained and educated 4 mater degree candidates including one from Bangladesh.
