Professor Wang Kai, MD, PhD, is the founder and the academic leader of the Department of Hepatology, Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, the Director of the Institute of Hepatology, Shandong University, the director for the Shandong Branch of the National Clinical Medical Research Center for Infectious Diseases. Prof. Wang is the Postdoctoral Fellow of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Chief physician, Doctoral Supervisor, the Outstanding Medical Expert of Qilu Medical College of Shandong University, the Expert of the Antibacterial Drugs Professional Group of Rational Drug Use Commission of Chinese Health Ministry, the Member of the Medical Virology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, the Standing Member of the Infectious Physician Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, the Vice Director of the Interferon and Cytokine Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Microbiology, the Standing Member of the Infectious Diseases Professional Committee of the Chinese Research Hospital Association, the Vice Chairman of the National Minimally Invasive Treatment Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, the Chairman of the Medical Virology Branch of the Shandong Medical Association, the Honorary Chairman of the Infectious Diseases Branch of the Shandong Medical Association, the Honorary Chairman of the Infectious Physician Branch of Shandong Medical Doctor Association, the winner of the 10th Wu Jieping Medical Research Award and Paul Yangsen Pharmaceutical Research Award. Prof. Wang is the Editor for the Chinese Journal of Infectious Diseases, the Journal of Chinese Experimental and Clinical Virology, the Chinese Journal of Clinical Infectious Diseases, and World Journal of Gastroenterology. At present, Prof. Wang is devoted to the clinical application and basic researches relating to the diagnosis and treatment of various liver diseases. He has obtained many projects and grants including the National Science and Technology Major Projects, the National Science and Technology Support Program, the National Natural Science Foundation, and the total funds is about RMB 9 million. In recent years, Prof. Wang has awarded 12 patents of national invention, and obtained two Second-grade Awards for the Development of Science and Technology in Shandong Province. As the corresponding author, Professor Wang has published more than 120 academic papers including 71 SCI papers.
