He is deputy leader of minimally invasive Science Group, Osteoscientific Branch, Shandong Medical Association, vice chairman of cervical vertebra Professional Committee of Shandong Rehabilitation Medical Association, deputy director of the minimally invasive Spine Group of the fourth Physical Disability Rehabilitation Professional Committee of the Chinese Disabled Persons' Rehabilitation Association, member of the professional Committee of senile Spinal joint Diseases of Chinese Gerontology, the first Committee of SICOT Chinese Minimally invasive Surgery Society and other societies. Professor Liu are mainly engaged in clinical and basic research of spinal diseases, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of various degenerative diseases of the spine, spinal deformity and spinal trauma. At the same time, he carries out a large number of minimally invasive surgeries such as lumbar Microendoscopic Discectomy and transforaminal endoscopic discectomy, vertebroplasty (PVP), minimally invasive lumbar decompression internal fixation (mis-TLIF surgery), percutaneous minimally invasive internal fixation for the treatment of spinal fractures, unilateral entry of bilateral lumbar decompression, modified cervical spinal canal plasty (Kurokawa method),etc. In the past 10 years, doctor Liu went Japan Medical University, Hartford Hospital in the United States, RUSH University Medical Center in Chicago, Harborview Medical Center in University of Washington in Seattle, Washington University in St. Louis, and Desert Institue of Spine Care(DISC) in Phoenix. Scientific Research
Currently, he is in charge of 1 National Natural Science Foundation project, 1 Natural science Foundation project of Shandong Province, 1 youth scientific research foundation project of Department of Health, and 2 projects of Shandong University. In 2014, he won the title of Young Outstanding Talent of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University. He has published more than 30 clinical and basic research papers about spinal surgery as the first author in Spine, European Spine Journal, J Neurosurgery Spine, International Orthopedics, and other academic journals. He edits and co-edits 7 books and obtains 5 national patents.
