Dr. Li is the chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, distinguished Professor/vice director of Brain Science Research Institute of Shandong University and special experts of ‘Taishan Scholar.’ He also serves concurrently as the Chairman of Neurosurgery Branch of Shandong Province Medical Association and the committee member of Chinese Society of Neurosurgery, member and deputy leader of the cerebrovascular Disease Surgery Group of The Chinese Neurosurgery Society, member of the Standing Committee of the Neurosurgery Society of the Chinese Medical Association, Editorial board member of 《Chinese journal of Neurosurgery》, 《Chinese journal of Neurosurgery (English)》, 《Chinese edition of Neurosurgery》and so on.

He graduated from Shandong University School of Medicine, completed his neurosurgical residency at Qilu Hospital in 1988, and engaged in neurosurgery career for over 30 years. He is expertise in the surgical treatment of cerebrovascular diseases, and is specialized in minimal invasive surgery and endoscopic surgery for intracranial lesions, aneurysms, AVM, and tumors of the skull base and brainstem He was honored for the award of rescuing critically ill patients for multiple times.

He is also an researcher specialized in the basic research of Neuroepithelial tumors, focused on the research of hypoxic tumor microenvironment, tumor inhibitory immune microenvironment, extracellular vesicle communication and early tumor liquid biopsy. In addition, he had undertaken five general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, one Major Scientific and Technological Innovation Projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and some others. As the first or corresponding author, he had published more than 130 research papers, including over 80 SCI papers published in Autophagy、J. Pineal Res、Cancer Immunology Research and other SCI journals, with more than ten books.
