Dr. Lei is the executive vice-chief of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, as well as the NHC Key Laboratory of Otorhinolaryngology, Qilu Hospital, Cheeloo College of Medicine, Shandong University. He is also the designate chairman of the Society of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Shandong Provincial Medical Association, and the secretary of the Group of Head and Neck Surgery, the Society of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Chinese Medical Association. Moreover, he currently serves as the corresponding editor of the Chinese journal of otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, and vice editor-in-chief of the journal of otolaryngology and ophthalmology of Shandong University. In 2009, Dr. Lei carried out one-year period research work at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas as a visiting scholar. In 2012, Dr. Lei was awarded as one of the first “Distinguished Young Scholars of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University”. In 2016, he was officially invited to National University of Singapore for a one-month visit. Dr. Lei is a famous head and neck surgeon, specializing in performing both open and advanced minimally-invasive surgery for laryngeal cancer, hypopharyngeal cancer, thyroid cancer, etc. As the principal investigator, Dr. Lei focuses on developing novel conservative surgical procedures, and reconstructive techniques in the area of head and neck oncological surgery. His research interest centers on the molecular epidemiology of hypopharyngeal and laryngeal cancer, including long non-coding RNA and circular RNA. He has published extensively and got several provincial research funds in this field.
