The Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University was founded in 1958, which was the earliest established whole One of the departments of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine in China General Hospital. In the 60 years, under the guidance of Wang Yufu, Xiao Gong, Chen Kezhong, Zhang Jidong, Liu Deshan and other famous Chinese medicine and integrated Chinese and Western medicine experts, The Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, adheres to the combination of inheritance and innovation, and the principle of combining traditional Chinese medicine with western medicine, has developed into a strong clinical discipline of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine both inside and outside the province since the establishment of the branch. It was approved as the authorized point of clinical (geriatric) master of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine in 1987. In 2003, it was authorized by clinical doctor of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine. In 2007, it was rated as a demonstration unit of traditional Chinese medicine in national general hospitals. In 2012, it was approved by Zhang Jidongshan's famous TCM inheritance studio in East China and Shandong Key Laboratory of Medicine and Health-Geriatrics Laboratory of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine. In 2013, it was established as a national academic school, Qilu Internal Medicine Time Disease School Inheritance Studio Workstation. In 2016, it was awarded the Key College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Shandong Province by the Provincial Health Planning Commission. In 2018, it was approved as a national famous Chinese medicine inheritance studio, and in 2019, it was approved as Liu Deshan's famous and old Chinese medicine inheritance studio in Shandong Province.

At present, the department has 4 chief physicians, 3 deputy chief physicians, 5 attending physicians and 1 resident. Among them, there are 3 doctoral tutors, 5 master tutors, 9 doctors and 2 masters. There are 2 national mentoring instructors, 1 top ten famous old Chinese medicine practitioners in Shandong Province, 1 Shandong province famous traditional Chinese medicine, and 1 Shandong Province, five-level teacher guidance teachers, 4 academic heirs of the first, second and third batches of famous Chinese medicine practitioners in China, 1 national backbone talent with clinical characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine,  and 1 heir of the fifth class in Shandong Province. The department has 1 vice president and 3 standing Committee members of the National Society Branch; there are 2 chairmen, 5 vice-chairmen and 5 members of the professional Committee of the provincial society, 4 presidents, vice presidents, standing directors, directors and secretaries-general of national or provincial societies, and there are 6 editors of magazines at all levels. Academic leader Professor Liu Deshan is the president of Shandong Geriatrics Association and a famous Chinese medicine practitioner in Shandong Province Medicine expert, Shandong famous old Chinese medicine inheritance studio expert, and the province's five-level Chinese medicine teacher Instructors and representatives of national academic schools, and the backbone of clinical characteristics of Chinese medicine in China Talent instructor. As the traditional Chinese medicine department of general hospital, the department has dynamic blood pressure meter and drug fumigation Medical equipment, such as therapeutic apparatus and anorectal therapeutic apparatus, have formed three major professional directions of treating senile diseases, tumor diseases and anorectal diseases with integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine. For many years, the department has been undertaking the medical college, pharmacy college and nursing college of Shandong University and the teaching of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the training of master's and doctoral degrees for international students. The course of "Traditional Chinese Medicine", which was lectured by Professor Liu Deshan, was rated as an excellent course in Shandong Province Chinese Medicine, the textbook of the 13th Five-Year Plan of Medical Planning, was published in 2019. The department has accepted students and refresher doctors from Canada, Japan and other countries for study twice, and many doctors went to Canada, the United States, Australia, Austria, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland and other countries for lectures and academic exchanges.

The department actively carried out scientific research work. The department has won three second prizes for scientific and technological progress of the Ministry of Education, won 5 second prizes and 6 third prizes for scientific and technological progress of Provincial Science and Technology Department, received the Provincial Department of Education 1 first prize for scientific and technological progress, 3 second prizes and 2 third prizes, won the provincial medical association and middle school 2 first prizes and 1 second prize for scientific and technological innovation of Medical Association. There are 16 projects (including 4 from NSFC) have been funded. More than 200 papers published, More than 30 SCI articles, 19 published works (4 editors and 6 deputy editors). A variety of traditional Chinese medicine in-hospital preparations jointly developed with the hospital pharmacy department have a good effect.
