As a clinical secondary discipline, the Department of Anesthesiology is responsible for clinical anesthesia, emergency resuscitation and pain treatment for the whole hospital. The Department of Anesthesiology, Qilu Hospital of Shandong University is divided into Department I and Department II.
There are 70 anesthesiologists in the Department of Anesthesiology, including 9 senior titles, 14 associate senior titles, and 47 attending physicians. More than 50% have doctorate degrees, and more than 99% have master degrees. There are 16 nursing staff, including 4 nurses in charge, and more than 84% have a bachelor degree. The department is equipped with 62 imported anesthesia machines such as Ohmeda and Drager, of which 4 are domestic advanced anesthesia workstations, 62 are anesthesia monitors such as Ohmeda, GE, Philips, 4 Teama ventilators, 2 blood gas analyzers, autologous blood recovery There are 9 transfusion machines, 33 anesthesia gas detectors, 6 EEG anesthesia depth monitors, 2 bedside ultrasounds, and 22 transfusion warmers. The number of personnel, business level, number of instruments and equipment, and advanced level are all in the leading position in Shandong Province.
 
The Department of Anesthesia is responsible for clinical anesthesia in 47 operating rooms in Huamei Building (the most anesthesia department on one single floor in the country) and 2 operating rooms in Jizhong Building, as well as outpatient anesthesia such as painless gastroscopy and painless enteroscopy. Provide high-quality general anesthesia, intraspinal anesthesia, nerve block anesthesia and painless endoscopy for the majority of patients. In 2018, the amount of anesthesia for inpatients was about 55,000, and that for outpatients was about 16,000.

There are 15 in-service doctors and 2 nurses in the Second Department of Anesthesiology, including 1 chief physician, 3 associate chief physicians, 9 attending physicians, and 2 residents. 8 doctors have doctorate degrees, 2 are PhD candidates, and the remaining 5 have master degrees. The Second Department of Anesthesia is mainly responsible for the anesthesia of the second operating room, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Department of Hemorrhoids and Fistula of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Hyperthermia Room of the Tumor Center, and the Bronchoscopy Room. The Second Anesthesia Department has 16 advanced multifunctional anesthesia machines, one anesthesia workstation, more than 14 monitors, one Huasheng bedside ultrasound, one Edward FloTrac/Vigileo cardiac output monitoring system, and one set of electronic video laryngoscopes. One blood transfusion warmer and one defibrillator. The combined epidural anesthesia technique is widely used in cesarean section operations. This technique has a definite effect on anesthesia and rapid muscle relaxation, and greatly improves the quality of intraspinal anesthesia and reduces the waiting time for surgery. Bedside ultrasound improves the success rate of spinal canal puncture, central venous and radial artery puncture, and can guide various nerve block anesthesia in time, and can also provide important information such as cardiopulmonary function. The implementation of liquid warming measures avoids the occurrence of hypothermia after a large number of blood transfusion patients, reduces the occurrence of hypothermia and related complications, and promotes postoperative recovery of patients. The average annual operation volume in the department is about 10,000 units, without any medical disputes or accidents.
 
The Department of Anesthesiology is responsible for the teaching work of Shandong University School of Medicine, and is responsible for the teaching work of anesthesia professional interns and advanced anesthesiologists in various cities. The Department of Anesthesiology currently has 3 doctoral supervisors and 5 master supervisors. 90% of the staff have a graduate degree, of which 18 have obtained a doctoral degree, accounting for about 30% of the total number. Over the years, the department has trained 21 doctoral students and more than 100 master students, which has delivered a large number of excellent anesthesiologists to the medical system of the province.

"Chinese Primary Trauma Treatment" is an international public welfare training project initiated by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health commissioned by the Hospital Management Institute, the World Primary Trauma Treatment Committee (PTCF) and the Hong Kong Kadoorie Charity Foundation. It is currently the largest trauma treatment training project in China. Our department undertakes the Shandong Province Primary Trauma Treatment (PTC) project and has trained a large number of excellent PTC students and lecturers for the province's health system.

The scientific research work of the anesthesiology department has achieved remarkable results. It has won 8 national scientific research funds, more than 20 provincial scientific research funds, and more than 10 provincial and ministerial scientific research awards. He has published many papers in core journals, including more than 100 papers in SCI, and edited or participated in editing many academic works. The "Intravenous Anesthesia Performer" software developed by our department has laid a good foundation for the development of target-controlled anesthesia across the country. The development and clinical application of target-controlled anesthesia in children, inhalation closed-loop target-controlled anesthesia and other software have laid the foundation for our department in target-controlled anesthesia. The software development and clinical application of pediatric target controlled anesthesia and inhalation closed-loop target controlled anesthesia have established our department's leading position in target controlled anesthesia in China.

Professor Lei Weifu and Professor Yu Jingui of our department are members of the Anesthesiology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, and the Anesthesiology Department is the chairman unit of the Anesthesiology Branch of the Shandong Medical Association (1-7th, 9th). Our department is the location of the establishment and secretariat of the Asian Society of Anesthesia Quality Control, and the location of Shandong Anesthesia Quality Control Center. Many experts and professors in the department have served as members of well-known academic societies across the country and the province and the editorial board of journals and magazines, and sponsored the "Chinese Anesthesia and Analgesia" magazine, which further consolidated the academic leadership of our department in the province.
 
 

The Department of Anesthesiology provides high-quality services such as general anesthesia, intraspinal anesthesia, nerve block anesthesia, postoperative analgesia and painless endoscopy for the majority of patients. It has obvious advantages for the anesthesia of difficult, critical, urgent and severe patients. The department has extensively developed new technologies such as laryngeal masks, double-lumen bronchial catheters, and visual laryngoscopes, and has accumulated rich experience in emerging fields such as target-controlled anesthesia, bispectral index (BIS) monitoring of EEG, and intraoperative wake-up anesthesia.

The Department of Anesthesiology is responsible for the management of emergency resuscitation airway throughout the hospital, providing emergency measures such as tracheal intubation for critically ill patients in emergency departments and wards, and contributing to the rescue of patients' lives.
The Department of Anesthesiology actively develops autologous blood transfusion technology, which reduces the amount of allogeneic blood transfusion during surgery, improves blood utilization, and reduces the risk of infection and allergy caused by allogeneic blood transfusion.

 

Under the leadership of leaders at all levels of the hospital, the work of the anesthesiology department is developing rapidly and healthily. In order to improve the safety of anesthesia medical care, we will continue to improve the hardware construction of the anesthesia department. Each district will be equipped with one or more sets of autologous blood recovery machines, blood gas analyzers, cardiac defibrillators, difficult airway equipment, and emergency rescue vehicles. The room will also be equipped with cardiopulmonary function monitoring, anesthesia depth monitoring, emergency and difficult airway equipment, etc. Do a good job in the introduction, digestion and promotion of new anesthesia technologies. Promote the informatization construction of anesthesia work, and establish an information platform for discussion of critical cases and registration and reporting of adverse anesthesia reactions. We will continue to improve and implement various management systems and anesthesia quality control standards, and strictly enforce various operating routines and clinical anesthesia route systems to minimize various safety hazards. Continue to refine the anesthesia work of our hospital's superior specialties (general surgery, otolaryngology, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology, etc.). Improve the equipment of respiratory cycle monitoring in the anesthesia recovery room.

In order to promote the development of "comfortable medical care" in hospitals, the Department of Anesthesiology will actively expand the clinical work of subspecialties in the future. Actively carry out various analgesia projects, the ultimate goal of which is to make our hospital a "painless hospital", adapting to the transformation of patients' medical needs from "cure disease" to "comfortable and painless treatment". Vigorously develop the outpatient anesthesia business, continue to promote "painless abortion", "painless endoscopy", "diagnosis and treatment anesthesia monitoring", etc., so that patients can enjoy high-quality anesthesiology diagnosis and treatment in outpatient clinics. In the future, investment in personnel and equipment should be increased in order to increase workload and ensure the quality of work.
