The department of Poisoning and Occupational Diseases, formerly known as the Occupational Diseases Section in Internal Medicine, Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, was established in April 1965. It was one of the earliest departments to carry out the diagnosis and treatment of poisoning and occupational diseases in Shandong Province. In 1996, Dr. Jian Xiangdong served as the team leader. In September 2009, the Department of Poisoning and Occupational Diseases was set up under the emergency department. Xiangdong Jian as the deputy director of the emergency department and the director of the Department of Poisoning and Occupational Diseases. At present, the Department of Poisoning and Occupational Diseases is equipped with poisoning and toxicology consultation clinic and poisoning observation ward, and 24 beds are open for observation. Main diagnosis and treatment of diseases with paraquat poisoning and diquat herbicides, organophosphorus pesticide poisoning, laughing gas poisoning, botulinum toxin poisoning, snakebite poisoning, delayed encephalopathy, thinners poisoning of carbon monoxide poisoning, alcohol, organic solvent poisoning, lead poisoning and other heavy metal poisoning, excitant gas poisoning, poisonous plants and animals, drug poisoning, poisoning with Chinese herbal medicine, food poisoning, rodenticide poisoning and radioactive poison poisoning, pneumoconiosis, heat stroke, electrically damaging, drowning, etc. The department also undertakes emergency rescue work for all kinds of public health emergencies inside and outside the province, and can deal with mass poisoning incidents quickly, so that the sick can be treated in time. Our department undertakes the teaching tasks of Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine of Shandong University,undertake the task of teaching rotation and standardized training of resident physicians for visiting physicians and practicing physicians, recruits master's degree students in emergency medicine (poisoning). So far, 52 doctors and master's degree students in emergency medicine have been graduated, including 1 overseas graduate student. While actively carrying out medical treatment and teaching work, the department attaches great importance to clinical scientific research work, has published more than 300 scientific research papers, participated in the compilation of more than 30 works, and has been awarded more than 10 various scientific research awards at the provincial and departmental levels.
