The Department of Hepatology of Qilu Hospital is a special specialty that mainly diagnoses and treats various liver diseases, the Shandong Branch of the National Clinical Medical Research Center for Infectious Diseases, and the Drug Clinical Trial Institution of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University. At present, the Department of Hepatology is the clinical, teaching and research center of liver diseases in Shandong Province, the doctor and master degree granting point of Shandong University, the post-doctoral mobile station. The department has a medical team with a total of 34 staff, including 16 physicians and 18 nursing staff. There are 2 senior professional titles, 1 academic professional doctoral tutor, 2 master tutors, 4 associate chief physicians, 7 attending doctors. At present, all 16 physicians in the department have a master's degree or above, including 11 doctoral degree personnel and 5 master degree personnel.

The academic leader of the Department is Professor Wang Kai. In the 2018 Fudan University Hospital Rankings, the Department of Hepatology ranks 6^th in Eastern China and 1st in Shandong Province. In the 2018 ranking of Chinese hospitals scientific and technological influence announced by the Institute of Medical Information of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the Department of Hepatology ranked 1^st in Shandong Province for infection.
