The Radiology Department of Qilu Hospital, Shandong University was established in 1914. After more than a hundred years of inheritance, with the unremitting efforts of several generations of radiologists, it has become a comprehensive medical imaging center, including medical diagnosis and treatment, teaching and scientific research. Professor Zhang Zunying, Professor Hua Boqian, Professor Tao Musheng, Professor Li Chuanfu and Professor Ma Xiangxing are all famous radiologists.
The department became one of the first departments in Shandong Province to establish the postion of "Taishan Scholar" in 2005, became the key discipline in Shandong Province during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan in 2007, and became the key construction discipline in the third phase of "985" of Shandong University in 2009. The department is a master's degree and doctoral degree granting point, a national resident training base. It is also a translational medical research center for nanomolecular and functional imaging at Shandong University.
Several professors in the department hold part-time positions in academic committee, including member of Chinese Society of Radiology, chairman and vice chairman of Shandong Society of Radiology, chairman of Imaging Medicine Branch of Shandong Association of Integrative Medicine, vice president of Shandong Society of Medical Imaging, vice chairman of Shandong Professional Committee of Interventional Radiology, vice chairman of Shandong Professional Committee of Radiological Technology, associate editor and editorial board member of many important core journals and magazines in China.
After long-term construction and development, the Department is currently divided into two parts: central (Jinan) hospital area and Qingdao hospital area. The east and west wings of the Department work hand in hand to develop with each other and work together to create the brilliance of Qilu Medical Imaging.
Central Campus (Jinan): There are 158 staffs, including 4 doctoral supervisors, 10 master tutors, 9 chief physicians, 1 senior engineer, 12 associate chief physicians, 2 deputy chief technicians, 2 deputy chief nurses, 10 technicians in charge, 4 nurses in charge, 18 technicians and 17 nurses. There were 33 doctorates and 15 master's degrees. The total value of the equipment is about 300 million yuan, accounting for one-third of the fixed assets of hospital equipment, including 7 CT machines such as Force and gemstone, 5 high-level magnetic resonance machines and 5 large flat panel angiography machines.
It is divided into four parts: common X-ray diagnosis, CT diagnosis, MRI diagnosis, interventional diagnosis and treatment. The examination items include: digital radiography, mammography, gastrointestinal tract, fallopian tube and intravenous pyelography, CT and MRI examination, enhancement examination and various functional imaging examinations, various sampling biopsy, drainage, stent implantation, chemoembolization and tumor ablation therapy under interventional guidance. The main advantages in diagnosis are: coronary CTA, whole-body CTA and CTV, CT virtual endoscopy, CT and MR perfusion imaging, CT spectral imaging, MR brain functional imaging (including diffusion imaging, perfusion imaging, diffusion tensor imaging, brain nerve fiber tractography, spectral analysis, etc.), cardiac function analysis, blood flow velocity analysis, etc., which are widely used in the diagnosis in various systems and diseases. In terms of treatment, it is reflected in: ① DSA intervention: embolization and recanalization, drainage, stent implantation, balloon dilatation, etc. for great vessels and organ diseases; catheter embolization chemotherapy for malignant tumors (such as liver cancer, gynecological tumors, lung cancer, etc.); emergency hemostasis for hemoptysis, gastrointestinal bleeding and traumatic massive hemorrhage; preoperative vascular embolization therapy for expected large intraoperative blood loss; assistance in the diagnosis of related diseases, such as islet cell tumor, etc.② CT intervention: radiofrequency and microwave ablation of tumors (primary or metastatic tumors of lung, liver and kidney, especially suitable for patients with recurrence after radiotherapy or drug resistance after chemotherapy), puncture biopsy (pulmonary nodules, difficult and high-risk lesions), pericardial, thoracic, abdominal and pelvic drainage (especially mediastinal fistula, acute necrotizing pancreatitis and other critical drainage), nephrostomy, biliary tract and gallbladder drainage, bone tumor ablation combined with cementoplasty, pulmonary nodules anchoring, liver and kidney cyst sclerotherapy, etc. Among them, artificial pneumothorax assisted biopsy and ablation of high-risk sites in the chest ranks first in China.
In recent years, it has undertaken more than 40 projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Natural Science Foundation of Shandong Province, and the Science and Technology Development Plan of Shandong Province, and has won the Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award for many times. It has published more than 100 articles, including more than 30 articles in SCI in the past 5 years; and actively participated in RSNA, ECR, ISMRM and other international conferences for academic exchange. The department has established a long-term cooperation relationship with Cornell University and Hartford Hospital, and regularly dispatch endoscopists to go abroad for exchange and training. The vast majority of young and middle-aged physicians have overseas study and further study experience.
