On January 29, the Infection Management Office held the First Work Meeting of Infection Control Committee of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University in 2021. Chen Yuguo, chairman of the Infection Control Committee and president of the hospital, Su Hua, vice chairman of the committee and deputy secretary of the CPC of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, and Tian Hui, vice president of the hospital attended the meeting. Luan Xiaorong, director of the Infection Management Office presided over the meeting. All members of the Infection Control Committee, including heads of relevant offices and clinical and medical technology departments and head nurses attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Chen Yuguo pointed out in his speech that the hospital attaches great importance to nosocomial infection management, and infection control is the "main line" of hospital's diagnosis and treatment activities, the "bottom line" to ensure patient safety, and the "red line" of lawful practice. In the battle against COVID-19, the whole hospital united efforts, overcame difficulties, and worked together to fight the pandemic, building an “iron wall” to prevent and control the pandemic and nosocomial infections. He repeatedly emphasized that in order to prevent a resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic, we must truly understand the norms, be practical and goal-oriented, and resolutely achieve the goal of “zero tolerance for hospital infections”. With regard to the prevention and control work of the COVID-19 pandemic and nosocomial infection, Chen Yuguo put forward several requirements: Firstly, we should build political savvy and be aware of the bottom line. Secondly, we should clarify accountabilities and give full play to the Infection Control Committee. Thirdly, we should strengthen cooperation among multiple departments to jointly implement the prevention and control work of nosocomial infection. Fourthly, we should strengthen supervision and inspection, be problem-oriented and pay attention to the implementation of the relevant policy. Finally, he pointed out that the hospital should continue to implement the 16-character policy of “clear division of labor, individual responsibility, unity and cooperation, and timely communication” to prevent and control the pandemic. President also said that in order to prevent and control the pandemic and nosocomial infections, the policy should be implemented precisely, and prevention and control work of the pandemic should be carried out according to the region and level.   

Tian Hui emphasized the importance of the nosocomial infection control work, highly appreciated the nosocomial infection control work of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University. He announced the list of the new Infection Control Committee and the committee’s responsibilities. Tian Hui pointed out that it is necessary to give full play to the role of the Infection Control Committee, prevent risks through the three-level system of infection control work, consolidate responsibilities, and refine tasks to let infection control supervisors of each department further fulfill their responsibilities, raise the awareness of risks, and improve the accuracy, standardization and scientific level of the prevention and control work of nosocomial infection.
Luan Xiaorong delivered a work report and led the discussion, summarized the work in 2020 and the plan for 2021, reviewed and approved the “Guidelines for the Prevention and Control Work of the COVID-19 Pandemic of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University”, read the “Inspection System of Normalized Pandemic Prevention and Control Work of Shandong Province”, and selected and awarded excellent departments and individuals for the infection control work in 2020.
