On the afternoon of April 8th, the seventh session of the Cross-Disciplinary Forum of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University-School of Microelectronics was held successfully. Chen Yuguo, president of Qilu Hospital attended the conference and gave a lecture. Lin Zhaojun, executive vice dean, Wang Yong, vice dean, Su Xuantao, assistant to the dean and other experts of the School of Microelectronics of Shandong University attended the meeting. Xu Feng, director of the Personnel Department of Qilu Hospital and executive deputy director of the Emergency and Critical Care Medicine Center, Yang Xiaoyun, director of the Department of Academic Research, Hou Xinguo, director of the Department of Endocrinology, Li Ke, deputy director of the Intelligent Medical Center of Shandong University and other experts from the cross-disciplinary fields attended the meeting.
Chen Yuguo pointed out in his speech that new techniques including electronics, information and intelligence are of vital importance to medical, educational and research work, especially to clinical research, diagnosis and treatment. The development history of modern sciences and the pandemic prevention and control experience has fully proved that cross disciplines are at the frontier of science. Promoting the research of cross disciplines to foster the development of life medicine has become an irresistible trend, and an inevitable approach to improve scientific and technological innovation capacity. The potency, scope, and depth of crossing disciplines have become one of the critical factors to influence innovation, especially original innovation. He mentioned that as the first session of the series in 2021, this forum was not only about summarizing previous scientific research and organizing cross-link innovation points, but a good opportunity to better scheme the organic integration of medicine and microelectronics. He also said that the forum is of great and far-reaching significance for Shandong University’s “Double-First Class” construction, and he hoped that experts could discuss sufficiently and deepen understanding to promote cooperation and yield fruitful results.
At the conference, professor Wang Yong, Su Xuantao, Zhang Jiawei, Sun Fengrong, Tianlan, vice researcher Zhang Yifei, Ma Jinlian from the School of Microelectronics gave speeches on their research interests, especially introduced achievements of different stages and development prospects of closely related research fields with life medicine. Bian Yuan, deputy director of the Department of Emergency Medicine of Qilu Hospital, Qin Weidong, associate chief physician of the Intensive Care Unit, and Chen Tongshuai, attending physician of the Department of Cardiology reported respectively, providing their specific idea on crossing disciplines according to clinical, teaching and research needs. Experts analyzed microelectronics’ different application scenarios and implementation approaches on clinical medicine from several aspects and levels, including flexible wearable electronic devices, flow cytometry (FCM) development, intelligent medical imaging analysis, computer-aided diagnosis, biomedical signal and information processing. Attendees spoke out freely on integrated development of microelectronics and medicine, and had heated discussions on their respective research status, bottlenecks, and development frontiers.
By integrating disciplines and crossing innovation, the forum provided a platform for stimulating scientific and technological innovation vitality. A total of more than 30 related staff members from different departments including the Department of Cardiology, Anesthesiology, and Emergency Medicine attended the meeting.
