Academician Zhang Yun and Professor Yang Qifeng have made the latest (2021) list of the Highly Cited Chinese Researchers released by the global leader in information and analytics Elsevier on April 14. Academician Zhang Yun has been selected in the list for the seventh time and Professor Yang Qifeng the second.
A total of 4701 Chinese scholars of the most global influence in various disciplines from 523 Chinese universities, enterprises and scientific and research institutions are on the list of 2021. In the field of clinical medicine, 243 Chinese scholars are included. “Highly Cited Chinese Researcher” means that the total citations of the papers published as the first and corresponding author are at the top level among all Chinese (mainland) researchers in the discipline, indicating that the scholar has a global influence in his research field, and has made outstanding contributions to the development of the field.
Publisher of the list said that as China gaining its influence and status in global scientific research field, it is more and more important to discover and recognize outstanding scholars who lead China’s academic progress. The Highly Cited Chinese Researchers of 2021 adopts Scopus (a global leading citation and index database) as its data source of Chinese researcher’s scientific research outcomes, and uses the selection method designed by ShanghaiRanking (ShanghaiRanking Consultancy), finally getting 4701 Chinese scholars with the most global influence in various disciplines.
