On May 25, Qilu Hospital Discipline Construction Symposium was held in the conference room of Xinxing Building. Hou Junping, Secretary of the Party Committee of the hospital attended the meeting and delivered a speech. The meeting was hosted by President Chen Yuguo.

In his concluding speech, Hou Junping pointed out that discipline construction is reflected in the process of medical services, talent cultivation, and scientific research. To overcome difficulties, we must be problem-oriented. We must strengthen the construction of special diseases and specialties, vigorously promote intensive development, and construct more high-level subspecialties. We must expand academic platforms, strengthen peer exchanges, highlight strengths, characteristics, and advantages, and build popularity and discipline reputation. We should pay attention to integrated development, and vigorously promote the construction of key discipline clusters. Hou Junping asked the whole hospital to unify thinking, forge ahead, deeply grasp the hospital's development goals and development strategies, and make every effort to build a world-class medical discipline and the "Qilu Medicine" brand.

Chen Yuguo emphasized that discipline construction is a fundamental and long-term work. Currently, discipline development is facing fierce competition. Each discipline should carefully examine and deeply analyze its strength centering on its development goals. All disciplines should attach great importance to the construction of subspecialties and the first-class talent training system to stimulate team motivation. We should strengthen academic exchanges with domestic and foreign dominant disciplines, to continuously improve our academic reputation. We should pay attention to clinical summary, and improve global and domestic influence through new clinical technologies, guidelines, consensus and other achievements. The hospital will improve system coordination and resource allocation, and boost the development of the hospital with stronger disciplines, to comprehensively enhance its competitiveness.

At the meeting, Lv Ming, Director of the Education Office and the Discipline Office, gave a report on recent work, analyzing the development situation of the discipline from perspectives of the Fudan Ranking and other mainstream rankings, the use of discipline construction funds, and the assessment and incentive policies. She said that long-term planning is the key to leading future development. 

Discipline leaders of the Department of Cardiology, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Department of Hematology, Department of Gastroenterology, Department of Clinical Laboratory, Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Department of General Surgery, Department of Endocrinology, Department of Urology, Department of Thoracic Surgery, Department of Radiation Oncology, Department of Ultrasound, Department of General Practice, and Department of Health Management Center made reports on information analysis of domestic mainstream discipline rankings, development goals of each discipline, benchmarking analysis, and construction planning respectively.

Leaders of the hospital Liu Qing, Ji Chunyan, Cheng Yufeng, Tian Hui, Xu Feng, and member of the Party Committee of the hospital and head of the Organizing Ministry of the Party Committee Zhang Xinping, attended the meeting. Relevant persons in charge of each discipline and heads of each relevant functional departments attended the meeting.
