On August 1, the 2024 new employee induction ceremony of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University was held in the conference center on the 5th floor of the Qilu Building. The ceremony was attended by the hospital's Party Secretary, Chen Xin, and the hospital's President, Chen Yuguo, who both delivered speeches. Other hospital leadership members, heads of party and administrative departments, party branch secretaries, and over 200 newly recruited staff members and nurses participated in the ceremony. The event was hosted by Vice President Xu Feng.
Chen Xin warmly welcomed the arrival of the new employees and introduced the progress and achievements of the hospital's recent reforms and development. He encouraged the new staff to aim high and take on their responsibilities with courage, reminding them to uphold the values of "original intention," "benevolence," "craftsmanship," and "perseverance" as healthcare professionals. He emphasized the importance of nurturing a "sense of duty to the nation," "innovative spirit," and "humanistic philosophy," urging them to contribute their youthful energy to the construction of a first-class domestic and internationally renowned high-level research hospital, and to realize their personal value through dedicated efforts in the healthcare field.
Chen Yuguo congratulated the new employees on joining Qilu Hospital. In his speech, he emphasized that the hospital is following a strategy of "liberating the mind, innovating for change, gathering wisdom and striving for strength, and developing with an open approach." With the goals of establishing a National Medical Center, a National Clinical Medical Research Center, and building a National Regional Medical Center, the hospital is fully advancing the integrated development of medical services, education, research, prevention, and management. He encouraged the new employees to deeply cultivate a sense of duty to the nation, and to be Qilu people who are willing to take responsibility, embrace innovation, and pursue steady progress.
Feng Chen from the Department of Otolaryngology spoke as the representative of the new employees. Drawing from his own educational journey, personal experience in fighting the pandemic, and firsthand impressions of the hospital's rapid development, he shared his understanding of responsibility and dedication. He expressed his deep respect for the Qilu Medical spirit and his determination to work diligently under the guidance of the hospital leadership and department mentors. Feng pledged to work steadfastly, continuously learn with perseverance, and strive to become an outstanding medical and scientific professional as soon as possible.
To encourage new employees to work diligently and strive for excellence after joining the hospital, a special "Qilu Rising Star" award was established. During the ceremony, Chen Xin presented awards to 13 young Taishan Scholar experts and recipients of the Postdoctoral Innovative Talent Support Program who joined the hospital in 2023. He expressed hope that the new employees would look up to their senior colleagues as role models, seize every opportunity, pursue excellence, and become the future stars of the hospital.
Chen Yuguo presented the new employee representatives with customized hospital uniforms, symbolizing responsibility and mission. He congratulated them on officially becoming members of Qilu Hospital and wished them success in their future work. He encouraged them to don their white coats with honor, make the most of their youthful years, continuously enhance their skills, and protect the health of the people.
Han Hui led the new employees in a solemn oath-taking ceremony, where they collectively pledged their commitment to the health of humanity, the upholding of medical dignity, and the fulfillment of their sacred mission.
During the ceremony, Zhao Danyang from the Health Management Center and new employee Zuo Fuwen performed the song "As Wished," with their beautiful voices conveying the Qilu people's hopes for a bright future. New employees Ye Runze, Yang Jieru, Feng Chen, and Li Baixing performed a poetry recitation titled "A Tribute to Healers," celebrating the noble character and great compassion of Qilu medical professionals through heartfelt narration and a powerful tone.
The ceremony concluded with everyone joining in a chorus of the Qilu Hospital anthem. This induction ceremony gave the new employees a deeper understanding of the Qilu spirit and culture. It is believed that they will bring new energy to the hospital's future development with their enthusiasm and steadfast commitment.
